We prioritize research focusing on whole grain flour, wheat bran, and other products with health benefits, as well as the creation of new products and services that help consumers to enjoy good health.
Using high-fiber wheat to produce wheat flour with a high dietary fiber content
Nisshin Flour Milling Inc. is helping to reverse a tendency to consume insufficient dietary fiber by developing high-fiber wheat flour to facilitate fiber intake through a variety of foods. Its research in this area has led to the development of Amuleia high-fiber wheat flour. We are working with our partners in the food manufacturing industry to contribute to good health by creating an environment in which consumers can enjoy products made with Amuleia flour on a daily basis.

Products based on healthy wheat-derived ingredients (wholegrain flour, bran)
Bran is the outer layer of wheat, which makes up about 15% of the total weight of wheat grains. It is rich in dietary fiber. Developed under the leadership of Nisshin Flour Milling Inc., SF Bran is a wheat bran product manufactured using an original process developed by the Nisshin Seifun Group. Nisshin Seifun Welna Inc. also sells bran-based products, including NatuBran, a household-use food with functional claims.

Products to prevent excess nutrition (low-carbohydrate, low-sugar, reduced-salt products)
In recent years, excessive consumption of carbohydrates, sugar, salt, and other nutrients is leading to serious lifestyle-related health issues, such as obesity. The Nisshin Seifun Group is continually launching high-value-added products that combine delicious flavors with health benefits, such as low levels of carbohydrates and sugar, and reduced salt. Nisshin Flour Milling Inc. and Nisshin Seifun Welna Inc. both supply mixed flour products with reduced carbohydrate, sugar and salt levels, while Oriental Yeast Co., Ltd. sells low-sugar flour paste and fermented flavor liquids in which umami and sour flavors and aromas are used to disguise the reduced salt level.

Nisshin Seifun Welna Inc. and Nisshin Pharma Inc. supply foods for specified health uses and foods with functional claims as easier and simpler sources of nutrition for consumers seeking to achieve good health through their diet. Nisshin Seifun Welna Inc. continues to add a variety of products to its Karada Ni Oishii Koto series, which it first launched in 2019.

The Nisshin Seifun Group offers a wide range of other products to meet diverse dietary needs, including nutritional supplements and plant-based protein products. Nisshin Seifun Welna Inc. is responding to growing health awareness, and the resulting awareness of the need to consume more protein, by offering a high-protein version of its FineFast Ma・Ma Quick Boil Spaghetti. Nisshin Pharma Inc. offers Power Supply NMN, a supplement containing nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN)*. NMN has attracted intense interest following the publication of a report indicating a linkage to longevity genes. In addition, Oriental Yeast Co., Ltd. has launched a plant-based food series containing no animal-derived ingredients for consumers wishing to combine healthy lifestyles with enjoyment of delicious foods.

Creating and expanding markets for wholegrain flour and wheat bran
Wholegrain flour is made by grinding entire wheat grains, while bran is produced from the outer layers of wheat grains. Both are rich in dietary fiber, which is regarded as the sixth nutritional element. The Nisshin Seifun Group is engaged in research and development, product development, and communication activities on a group-wide basis with the aim of creating and expanding a market for wholegrain flour and bran.
