The former Nisshin Seifun Yokohama Plant (1907)
After only five years of operation, the Tsurumi Plant—the company’s core factory that Teiichiro had painstakingly built and bet the company’s fortunes on—was badly damaged by fire. That day, upon receiving an urgent message about the fire, Teiichiro immediately rushed to the scene. Taking a position at the center of the action, Teichiro directed the firefighting. As the night wore on, Teiichiro saw to the injured and, while keeping vigil throughout the night, began planning the plant’s reconstruction. The next day, Teiichiro called a meeting of the plant managers and gave instructions to increase production, etc., to eventually overcome the crisis.
